Pitt Stop Auto Detailing has numerous services we can offer to our clients. From interior repair to standard wash packages, we know your car needs care and attention to detail when you bring it to us. Or when we pick it up! From time to time we get questions about lesser-known services, and we love to show the care we can offer your favorite vehicle, boat, or truck. Ceramic coatings are a great way to offer additional protection to your car.

About

Ceramic coating is often described as being a step up from getting your car waxed. According to TheDrive.com, a wax is a “liquid polymer or quartz [that] bonds with the car paint and gives it a lasting shine.” This extra protection offers a high level of gloss, helps maintain the car’s overall look, and helps prevent damage from microscopic and small bits of grit and grime. Similar to a wax, water will bead up and roll off the surface of your car, with the added advantage of the ceramic coating lasting much longer.

Benefits

Our area of the country in particular has a climate that isn’t necessarily friendly to the paint on your car. Rain can create long lasting wet spots and dirt and grime from driving can create scratches in the car’s paint, which become more evident over time. A ceramic coating creates a barrier over the car’s surface to shield from those damages. Unlike a wax, the ceramic coating will last much longer, making it a better option for areas like ours, where the protection is important for most, if not all months of the year. Ceramic coating also provides an additional level of protection from UV damage, rust, and oxidation, leaving your car’s paint shiny and bright, rather than dulling over time. This is especially helpful for cars that spend a lot of time without shade or cover. Also, the thickness of the coating can prevent minor scratches and dings, protecting your car to its core.

Costs

The cost of a ceramic coating depends on the type. A cheaper coating will last longer than a wax, but will not protect your car for more than a year at a time. For just a little more money, you can protect your car’s look for 5 years or even longer with no additional labor costs, just for the initial investment of the ceramic coating itself. While you could perform this task on your own, by allowing Pitt Stop Auto Detail to do the work, you are assured that every inch of your car is covered properly. Our diligence and attention to the cars we care for, shows in every service we offer. If you are interested in ceramic coating, we may need to do a minor amount of paint repair on your vehicle for any existing scratches or dings to ensure proper application.
